There is no time when we are caught in this dilemma of being ethical in every aspect of our lives. We always need to consider the moral consequences of our actions and the ethical choices we make.
At the very beginning of Savater’s book in Etica para Amador, he reflects on how moral principles are a essential part in regards to education.
He tries to explain his son, Amador, what ethics is about for giving him the freedom of thoughts and choices of what is ethically right and wrong. It will make him think critically and voice his opinion.
It is his intelligence which will allow him to do his best when choosing what to do.
Reflecting on this, we know that our parents are our first educators, as teachers we share with them the responsibility of building students personalities and to make them think intelligently.

You're right as educators we are, or we should try to be models in what respect to life, decisions, etc.
Our society has many - a lot of - models to follow, and the variety is so wide and not always good, that kids find themselves at a loss.
So, not only as educators but also as adult members of the society we should think twice about our actions, and guide kids in their decision making to make or create a better place to live.

Did you know Savater said our educational system, rather than educating people, simply produces "ISP"?
I was a bit puzzled to read you believe it's teachers's job 2to make (students) think intelligently". Doesn't this contradict your previous point that students should makes their own choices by themselves?

You are right, maybe I was not very clear when writing...
What I want to say comes next, in my second post. I think that as teachers we can show our students that they are free to choose what is convinient for them. Being free to think critically is to get involved in what they believe is ethically correct. As teachers we show the path of rights and wrongs...and they choose...If they do their best, they can get the results they expect.
Am I clear? What do you think?:)

Hi Galdys!I understand what you wrote!! Now I think that is a bit difficult to talk about "ethics"...
Last year, when we talk about andragogy, we learnt that we are not the owners of the knowledge...but sometimes we can say that something is bad or wrong from what we have experienced in our short lives.They would be my own ethics rules, no more than that...
Aha, so you do believe something is right or wrong independently of the cirmcumstances... OK, just remember this for the moment when we start discussing "sources of morality", will you?
